Having low self-esteem is something that we often think about with teenage girls. Maybe they don't fit in with their classmates, they constantly compare themselves to each other, and they can't tell people no because then they won't like and accept them. It's time for a wake-up call. Low self-esteem doesn't stop when we graduate high school. In fact, it plagues many adults, mostly women.
The topic of poor self-worth or low self-esteem isn't something that comes up in conversation. It's often a secret that sometimes we don't even know that we're keeping. It shows up in unexpected places and without self-awareness, it can create behaviors that turn our lives upside down.
So how do you tell if you have ladult ow self-esteem? Here's a list of the top ten behaviors that adults women with low self-esteem consistently exhibit.
- Struggling to say, "no"
- Failing to set necessary boundaries
- Feeling the need to be perfect at everything
- Self-sabatoging behaviors
- Overthinking every decision, big and small
- Constantly apologizing, even for things that are outside of your control
- Never feeling like you're good enough
- Comparing yourself to other women
- Terrible self talk (you wouldn't speak to your biggest enemy the way that you talk to yourself)
- Procrastinating important tasks
How many of these do you experience each day? How about each week? If you said "yes," to four of more of these behavoiors, you have adult low self-esteem.
